Probably like you, my family and I are completing our final preparations for the festive season and looking forward to settling down to a few days of relative relaxation.
In the lead up to Christmas I am always amazed that we refer to this as the “season of goodwill”. Each year increased commercialisation brings further forward the rush to the shops, the inevitable stress and the “push push push” in the streets. “Goodwill to all” often seems to disappear.
A season of goodwill?
Surely, if we mean well to others then we should feel and practice this at all times of the year, not just in one season. And if the festive season means anything at all it is to pause, reflect, contemplate, reconnect with what we hold to be important to us and to recommit to our values and to each other.
Can we factor into our thinking how we can turn our lives into a lasting practice of goodwill to all? Not something to be switched on or off at different times but part of our constant relationships with our families, friends, colleagues, customers and other contacts.
For me, this is about having clear values, having a vision for what we want to become and choosing our actions so that they align with that vision.
Aligning our vision and actions is key to our success.
I wish you and your loved ones peace, happiness and increasing success over this time and in the future.
